Water is undoubtedly the most valuable natural resource on our planet and its conservation requires our total commitment.
The Water and Environment Forum was recently held to celebrate World Environment Day. The theme was «The Restoration of Ecosystems». The goal of the forum was to generate greater awareness about the importance of caring for ecosystems in the Mexican Caribbean in the state of Quintana Roo and to promote the responsible use of water and renewable natural resources.
During this, the first edition of the forum, expert researchers met to share valuable information about the protection and repair of ecosystems, since their health is closely linked to the health of our planet those living on it.
Various topics were discussed at the forum, including wastewater sanitation, which was addressed by an expert engineer in the field, Raúl Almeida, who is also a consultant to the Water Environment Federation (WEF), as well as chemist Luis Manuel Guerra, who shared his point of view about recycling wastewater and the impact it has on the future.
The forum ended with an important reforestation activity in the Solidaridad and Benito Juárez municipalities, during which endemic tree species were planted and participants learned the important role that trees play in keeping water clean.
